Rachel Smith, headteacher at Beaconsfield High School, talks about her experience at the school so far:

I was delighted to join Beaconsfield High School as Headteacher in April of this year and am tremendously proud to lead such a wonderful school. Not only do our students gain remarkable GCSE examination results, but our sixth form is exceptional.  The academic challenge and support helped twelve to gain places at Cambridge and Oxford this year alone and all girls went on to study at redbrick and top class universities, including those in the Russell Group.

I believe in the power of enrichment to develop our students into whole people who will be successful in careers of worth in their future. Consequently many of our students complete Duke of Edinburgh (up to and including Gold), travel abroad to many places including to the Antipodes, have the chance to become elite athletes representing their county, region and country in a variety of different sports, including rowing and netball, compete in the Model United Nations in British and European classes and have many other opportunities to take part and give back at the highest level or just for pure enjoyment.

You will be able to recognise a young lady from our school because of their confidence, sense of fun and empathy. This September, I watched all year groups, even sixth formers, help the new Year 7s find their feet, show them the way and mix without any sense of embarrassment. Teachers and support staff often tell me with pride of a student’s kind act as often as they speak of having made huge efforts with their studies.

Learning at Beaconsfield High School is not just about academic success; it is about building independent skills to solve problems; understanding how to explain an idea or argue a point of view effectively; it is also about making great friends and being supported when life seems more challenging.

I am delighted to be in a position to offer a number of additional places in Year 7 for September 2016.  Please come along and take a tour with our students as your guides, ask them plenty of questions and choose the best school for your daughter.

I hope to meet you soon.
