The chairman of a residents association said he is “very concerned” by a recent spate of vandalism in Beaconsfield.

Cllr Sandy Saunders, chair of Beaconsfield Old Town Residents Association (BOTRA) said residents had reported having their cars sprayed with black paint in Burnham Avenue and Lakes Lane and on the eastern side of London End, overnight between January 16 and 17.

Beaconsfield SYCOB football ground, Holloways Park in Windsor Road, also had writing and symbols daubed on the wall and graffiti has appeared in the underpass near Pyebush roundabout.

Police confirmed that they are investigating a case of criminal damage that happened at some point between 10pm on January 16 and 1pm on January 17. A Honda CRV in Burnham Avenue was spray painted with black paint.

Graffiti was also sprayed on a garage door in Burnham Avenue between January 15 and January 18.

Firefighters were also called to an arson attack on a car in Longbottom Lane at 11.04pm on Monday night, which has prompted fears from residents.

On Twitter, Beaconsfield Today wrote that the fire was “worrying after recent graffiti on cars too.”

Police have not suggested that any of the recent incidents are linked.

Mr Saunders said that installing CCTV cameras may now need to be considered to tackle criminal damage in the area.

He said: “If this type of vandalism is going to recur, we must think more closely about using CCTV. This type of vandalism is very concerning and should be reported to the police and to the town council.

“The graffiti looks horrible and we must try to prevent it happening again.”

Mr Saunders said that preventing criminal damage may be difficult if the perpetrators are not from the area.

He said: “We must try and stop it, but it may be difficult as it seems these recent attacks were like a ‘hit and run’ - I suspect it may be people who have come to the town and then dashed away again quickly.”
