A touching photograph of magician Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee on their wedding day in Beaconsfield has been unearthed, just days after it was revealed that the magician has been diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour.

The news of Paul’s illness was confirmed in a statement on his website on February 20, where well-wishers were thanked for their “kind concerns and support at this sad time.”

The picture of their big day was sent in by former Bucks Free Press photographer Markus Kinch, who photographed the special moment outside Beaconsfield Registry Office on April 2 1988.

Arguably two of the UK’s favourite entertainers, the magical pair first began performing together in 1979, when Debbie worked on stage with Paul during his summer show in Great Yarmouth.

Since then, they’ve toured hundreds of times, Paul has hosted his own show, The Paul Daniels Show, as well as becoming the only magician to receive all the top awards of the famous London Magic Circle.

The pair have also performed in the county numerous times throughout their career and brought their tour, Back Despite Popular Demand, to the Wycombe Swan in November 2014.

Early in their marriage they lived in Sherwood House, in Tilehouse Lane, Denham – a home that had previously belonged to James Bond star Roger Moore.

In 1998 they moved to a house on the banks of the River Thames in Wargrave, Berkshire.
