The progress on developing a town plan to improve Beaconsfield will be presented at a town council meeting this evening.

A report that summarises the progress made by the Town Plan Advisory Groups will be discussed at the town hall this evening – the first step in the creation of a new town plan, replacing the current Strategic Plan for 2011 – 2016.

In March 2011, Beaconsfield Town Council approved the BTC Strategic Plan for 2011 to 2016, which will end of this year.

In 2014, the Town Council began consultations with the local community about the new Town Plan to cover 2017 to 2022 and in July 2015, they received 64 recommendations from the volunteer group Vision for Beaconsfield on how the town could be improved.

Last autumn, a range of advisory groups were set up to review the plans, led by town councillors with the help of V4B volunteers.

The council is set to hear how the community safety groups are making progress with a voluntary hopper bus service, re-established a parking working group and how they will help community groups maintain contact with Inland Homes over Wilton Park.

The open spaces group will also update on how they are making open spaces more attractive, including planting more flowers and plants in parks and greens and supporting an orchard in Holtspur Park.

The next step will be to invite town council members and the local community to put forward any extra ideas for the town plan.

Deputy Council Leader Philip Bastiman said: “The Town Council has made a lot of good progress in taking the ideas from V4B forward but there remains a lot to do before we have a new Town Plan fit for the next five years.

“We are grateful to those volunteers who have worked on first stage of the new plan and hope more local people will get involved.”

  • The full council meeting starts at 8pm tonight.
