Volunteers wearing tiaras cleared more than 40 bags of rubbish from across Beaconsfield as part of a nationwide clean-up campaign in preparation for Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday.
Members from the WI and The Beaconsfield Society, Scouts and Guides, the town council and Beaconsfield Old Town Residents Association came together to rid the town of rubbish in aid of the Clean for the Queen campaign.
During a four hour period on Saturday afternoon, volunteers managed to collect 35 bags of general rubbish.
Ten bags of recycling, as well as two 'stop and go' signs used by workmen directing traffic were also picked up from a grass verge on Penn Road.
In the build-up to the event, The Beaconsfield Society asked residents to nominate the spots they thought needed the most attention - and locations including the footpath between Malthouse Square and London End, the grass verges opposite Beaconsfield Cricket Club on the A40 and the lay-bys between the M40 were all selected.
