Keen politics students got an insight into how the House of Lords works when a Conservative peer visited a school in Beaconsfield on Friday.

Lord Stephen Sherbourne visited Beaconsfield High School on Friday, March 4, to speak to Government and Politics students about himself, the role of the House of Lords and took questions from the audience.

The Conservative peer was Margaret Thatcher’s political secretary and chief of staff to Conservative leader Michael Howard before he was made a life peer.

Victoria Williams, teacher in charge of Politics at the school, said Lord Sherbourne was an “engaging and witty speaker” and the students “welcomed the opportunity” to listen to him speak.
