High March pupils have been immortalised at the world’s oldest model railway just in time to celebrate the school’s 90th anniversary.

Tiny figurines in High March school uniforms have been depicted playing alongside boys from nearby Davenies School at Bekonscot Model Village and Railway in Warwick Road, just as the school’s birthday celebrations begin.

Belinda Avery, one of the school’s directors, said: “At long last the High March girls are models in Bekonscot, we are now there. It is really sweet and it is nice to be a part of their history too.”

Along with the tiny models, the school has a host of other events planned to celebrate the milestone year, including an exhibition and lunch, which former pupils are invited to attend for a trip down memory lane.

The school has already held a commemorative church service of thanksgiving at St Michael’s Church last month, with an Emerald 90th dinner and dance this weekend, March 12.

Mrs Avery said the church service saw the pupils perform songs, dances and poems to celebrate each decade the school has been open.

She said: “The girls really took us through the decades with a wonderful display of song and dance, we had flapper girls for the 1920s and rock n roll for the 1960s, right up to Take That.

“It was a really super day and parents came along as well to enjoy the show.”

An art exhibition displaying some of the school’s “fascinating” archive material will also take place on May 14 and 15, before a family country fayre on June 18 and an alumnae lunch on July 3.
