More than 40 babies and toddlers created a giant caterpillar conga line to raise money for charity in Beaconsfield last week.

Forty-five children under the age of five and their families from Beaconsfield, Chalfont and Wooburn Green gathered at the Beaconsfield Children’s Centre on March 21 to raise money for Action for Children while celebrating much-loved book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Action for Children provides early years child development, learning and childcare services to hundreds of tots throughout Bucks, through its children and family centres.

After creating the huge conga line, the youngsters took part in creative storytelling, mask making, a bug hunt and fruit painting, inspired by Eric Carle’s best-selling children’s picture book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Organiser Lisa Gardner said the book is a “firm favourite” amongst the children at the Beaconsfield Centre.

She said: “We want to celebrate Eric Carle’s beloved book by encouraging our children to get active and have fun. All funds raised will help us continue to support our children, young people and families in the area.”

More than 85,000 children and families have taken part in the Giant Wiggle since 2014, raising more than £150,000 for Action for Children.
