Plans for a new relief road that aims to cut congestion through Beaconsfield will go on display later this month.

Outline plans for the A355 relief road project, showing the proposed route between Pyebush Roundabout and Maxwell Road junction, will go on show during a three-hour drop-in exhibition and workshop on April 22, hosted by Bucks County Council.

The A355, which runs from Beaconsfield to Amersham, regularly causes chaos for commuters who get caught up in rush hour delays caused by ‘bottlenecks’ forming at a number of junctions along the road.

BCC say the £9.4 million improvements project is one of their high priority transport schemes and have managed to secure £6 million funding in collaboration with Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership (BTVLEP) in the first round of bids for the Government Local Growth Deal in March 2014.

The latest plans were refined following a workshop for local community groups in October.

Mark Shaw, Cabinet Member for Transport said the aim of the exhibition and workshop was to collect feedback from residents to help officers put together the detailed relief road planning application.

He said: “This is an important road scheme. We only get one crack at major schemes like these, and we want to make sure we get it right.

“Local residents and local groups have good local knowledge and can help us avoid expensive errors, which is why we're meeting with them at regular intervals.”

Detailed plans, which will form the planning application, are expected to be completed by the summer, when there will be a formal public consultation.

The exhibition will run from 3pm to 6pm at Beaconsfield Town Hall.
