An elderly woman was rescued this afternoon after she was found walking along the slip road towards the M40.
The incident occurred at around 4pm near Junction 2 (Beaconsfield) of the motorway, but the direction she was travelling is not known.
The "confused" pedestrian was found by traffic officers from Highways England who took the her back to the nearby services and reunited her with her party.
The incident was tweeted by @NPAS_Benson, a police helicopter unit, which confirmed that Highways officers and police were on the scene.
