A school in Beaconsfield is kicking off its 50th birthday celebrations with an ambitious music festival for the community.

To celebrate half a century since it opened its doors to pupils, Beaconsfield High School is set to transform into an outdoor music venue with its own festival, BeckyFest.

Fresh from a national arena tour supporting legendary Wet, Wet, Wet, singer songwriter Ben Mckelvey, from Beaconsfield, will be topping the bill when the festival kicks off on Friday, July 15.

The Running Guns, five-piece indie rock band Salt and High Wycombe musician Coates will also join the line-up.

As well as showcasing the best musical talent from Bucks, there will be festival stalls and activities, along with a barbecue, picnics and licensed bar.

Head teacher, Rachel Smith said: "I feel very privileged to be part of these celebrations. This is an opportunity not only to look back with fondness but also to look forward to the future.

“We can’t wait to share our good fortune with our former students and all of those families who have been, will be or remain part of this remarkable school."
