Residents took matters into their own hands when travellers moved onto private land in Beaconsfield yesterday.

Caravans and cars moved into Wilton Park on Monday evening, but homeowners who live on the private estate decided to try and stop them themselves by blocking their way.

A resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: "We saw them arriving and we called the police, but we thought enough is enough.

"The residents all jumped in their cars and blocked the road until the police came. The travellers got angry and said they needed to get onto the site because they had pregnant women inside.

"If travellers were quiet and respectful and cleaned up their mess, it wouldn't be so bad and we would probably tolerate them."

The actions of the residents meant that only a small number of caravans made it onto the site.

The resident added: "If it wasn't for the people blocking the road, there could have been around 50 caravans there."

The private Wilton Park estate is currently owned by Inland Homes.

A spokesman for the company said: "We are taking all necessary steps to remove them from the site and we hope that the matter will be resolved soon."

The group have now moved on from the site and a private security company (pictured above) have been spotted guarding the entrance to Wilton Park.
