A public inquiry into a council's refusal to grant planning permission for new homes on the site of an old railway line will take place in October.

Earlier this year Wycombe District Council turned down a submission to build 22 new homes in Bourne End, on the trackbed that used to link the village with High Wycombe.

A public footpath and cycleway linking Cores End Road and Town Lane were also included in the plans, which were turned down due to an adverse impact on the existing right of way, a "confusing" junction and a lack of bed space in affordable homes planned as part of the scheme.

The developer behind the project appealed the council's decision to the Planning Inspectorate, and a date for the hearing to determine whether building work can go ahead after all has now been set.

The hearing, which is open to the public, will be held at the chamber in WDC's offices in Queen Victoria Road from 10am on October 13. It is set to last for eight days.
