TESCO in Gerrards Cross has been given permission to extend its opening hours until 10pm.
Planning restrictions for the Packhorse Road store meant it previously had to close at 8pm from Monday to Saturday. It will still have to close by 4pm on Sundays.
Five neighbours of the Packhorse Road store had objected to the plan, while South Bucks District Council received more than 50 identical letters of support from customers and staff.
Those in support said the extended opening hours would avoid unnecessary trips out of the village.
Council officers considered “a fair and reasonable balance would be struck between the interests of the community and the human rights of the individuals concerned”.
The opening times have not yet been extended by Tesco.
Meanwhile, Waitrose has submitted an application to vary the planning permission for its soon-to-be-built store in Station Road.
It wants permission to install four air conditioning units and an emergency generator in the plant room. The store in set to open in the Summer.

The thin end of the wedge. They were 'supposed' to stock only their 'finest' range, however the lower range items are creeping in. They won't stop until they ruin the town

I'll stick to Waitrose, the farmer's market and my local butcher.

Now watch the idle rich (stinking rich) and retired rise up in arms about it. Trouble is these people will shop nowhere else than Selfridges or Harrods food hall or as a last resort Waitrose, they are not Tesco customers anyway.
