A spate of six burglaries in just one day in has led police to step up patrols and warn the public to stay vigilant over the coming days and weeks in light of the “unacceptable” number of crimes.

The Chiltern and South Bucks police area has suffered 32 break-ins since October, despite having the second lowest burglary reduction rate throughout Thames Valley Police’s area.

Six burglaries were reported on Wednesday alone in Little Chalfont, Chalfont St Peter, Denham, Denham Green and Iver.

Supt Steve Hockin, Local Police Area commander for the area, said: “Since October, thirty-two burglaries have occurred as part of the series which is simply not acceptable.

“I am confident that those committing the offences are travelling in from other areas, and all our efforts are currently being made to catch these nasty individuals who clearly have no regard for our law-abiding residents’ or their feelings.

“These criminals are not just committing breaks in Chiltern and South Bucks, but in other surrounding areas.

Wednesday’s incidents, which happened during the day, took place in Birkett Way in Little Chalfont, The Phygtle in Chalfont St Peter, Swallow Street in Iver and three burglaries in Woodhurst Drive in Denham Green.

In all six burglaries, front door panels were forced open using a tool. In at least three of the incidents, four men were seen making off in a dark coloured 4x4.

Items stolen include jewellery and tools.

Police now say they are ramping up their presence in the areas affected.

Supt Steve Hockin added: “Due to the offences being spread out across our local police area, regular patrols are being carried out daily as well as specific targeted operations which I hope will bring about some positive results soon.

“In some of the incidents, burglars have removed alarm boxes from inside the properties once they have broken in. I would therefore urge anyone who may hear a house alarm sounding at any point during the day or night, to be vigilant and contact us immediately.

“Inquiries to date suggest that those responsible maybe travelling in stolen vehicles on false number plates such as Audi’s or BMW’s to commit the offences.”

If you have any information about these burglaries or if you see any suspicious people, vehicles or activity, then please call 101.
