The owner of a Chesham-based tuition company has been named as a finalist in a regional business award for female entrepreneurs.

Sian Goodspeed is one of seven finalists in the ‘working with families and children’ category of the Best Business Women Awards.

The annual competition seeks to “recognise great women in the business community, who not only are making a difference in their own lives, but also in their local communities.”

Ms Goodspeed, a former primary school teacher, founded Flying Start Tuition in 2009 and the company now has centres in Chesham, Little Chalfont and Aylesbury.

“Learning should be enjoyable,” said Ms Goodspeed.

“We use technology, games, humour and praise to create a positive and dynamic learning environment for our pupils.”

The winner of the award will be announced at a black tie gala evening on 15th October at Batchwood Hall in St. Albans.
