Chesham and Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan cut the ribbon at a brand new charity shop on The Broadway, Chalfont St Peter yesterday afternoon.
The Member of Parliament declared Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s latest shop open for business at midday.
Shop manager Sue Barry confirmed the new outlet brought in nearly £400 of business in its first afternoon of trade.
Cheryl Gillan, speaking to the crowd as she cut the ribbon, said: “It gives me great pleasure to open the latest in the Rennie Grove chain of shops.
“It’s a fantastic location: easy to drop off your donations and to make your purchases.
“It’s a wonderful organisation, which started off as Iain Rennie Hospice at Home 30 years ago and has brought peace and help to thousands of people in the local area.
“I’d like to thank all the volunteers who give their time so freely and everyone who has made this shop possible.”
Located at number two, the shop is the 23rd in Rennie Grove’s chain of charity shops across Bucks and Herts.
Rennie Grove’s retail operation is responsible for bringing in more than £2 million towards the charity’s £6.7 million annual running costs.
