A pensioner accused of murdering an elderly pedestrian in a road rage attack has had his bail extended during a court hearing yesterday.

Odysseas Vafiadis, 70, of Birchdale, Gerrards Cross, allegedly confronted 69-year-old Paul Davidson as he stepped out onto a pedestrian crossing in Market Place, in Chalfont St Peter, in November last year.

Mr Davidson was treated at hospital but died three days later as a result of the injuries he sustained.

Mr Vafiadis, whose bail was extended from March 14 to March 21, is yet to enter a plea and first appeared at Reading crown court via video-link on November 16.

He appeared at the same court in person on December 11 and his case has since been discussed in court on two further occasions, including yesterday’s hearing.

A provisional trial date has been set for April 4 and it is expected to last between two and three weeks.
