A family will be spending 24 hours in the gym this weekend to raise £3,000 for charity.

Chris Jones has managed to persuade his entire family to take part in the day-long gymathon at the Chesham Moor Gym and Swim, where he works as a lifeguard and his brother is deputy manager.

The eight members of the Jones family taking part hope to raise money for the Hospice of St Francis charity with their gruelling efforts.

Chris, a former pupil at Chiltern Hills Academy, said: "The family will work throughout the 24 hours in pairs. I’ve told them it will be more fun like that, and I think they believe me.

"The whole family have been seen at Chesham Moor Gym and Swim and regular members are getting to know the Jones family well."

The Jones Gymathon will kick off at 9am tomorrow and members of the public are being invited along to cheer them on for the final half an hour on Sunday at the gym's tennis courts.

It won't be the end of the fundraising however - Chris also intends to take part in a walk from London to Brighton and a climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro before the end of the year.
