Eight people have been arrested following two incidents of disorder in Chesham which led to four people suffering facial injuries – as police try to see if there is a link between the incidents.

Three men were assaulted by another group at a car wash in Cameron Road just before 7pm yesterday evening.

Then five hours later a taxi driver was assaulted by a group of three men in Bellingdon Road.

All of the victims in the two attacks were treated where they were by ambulance staff after sustaining facial injuries.

Police have arrested five men from the town - aged 22, 23, 24, 27 and 34 – in connection to the Cameron Road incident, which saw three men in their thirties attacked.

A further three arrests have been made in relation to the assault on the 45-year-old taxi driver. Those arrested and taken into custody earlier today are also all from Chesham and are aged 24, 32 and 45.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the two incidents and are currently trying to establish if they are linked.

They want to speak to anyone who saw a white Audi and a blue Subaru in the area around Cameron Road at the time of the first attack.

Investigating officer Insp Luke Pillinger said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed either incident, or has any information, no matter how insignificant you think it might be, about either incident to contact police via 101.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation into these incidents but if members of the public have information then I would ask that they please work with us as we try to establish whether the two incidents are linked.

“We are carrying our house to house enquiries in the area at this time so I thank residents for their patience while there is an increased police presence in the area.”
