Chesham and Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan called on her constituents to keep up the fight for an environmental compromise during an HS2 information evening on Friday.

During the meeting at the Ballinger War Memorial Hall, Great Missenden, Mrs Gillan reiterated the need for further petitioning for Additional Provision 4 – which relates to the extended tunnelling of South Heath - and submissions about the supplementary environmental statement.

Mrs Gillan said: “Inch by inch, we have to work towards that goal of a tunnel to protect the whole of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, if this project goes ahead.

“There have been amendments to the proposals so it is vitally important that all constituents who believe they are directly and specially affected should make their views known.”

The petitioning phase for Additional Provision 4 opened on October 12 and closes on Friday November 13. The deadline for submissions about the supplementary environmental statement is Friday November 27.
