A special needs school in Chesham has benefitted from having two life-saving defibrillator machines installed on its premises.

Staff at Heritage House School, Cameron Road, were given training by South Central Ambulance Service on Friday after working with the cardiac charity SADS UK.

Defibrillators work to restore the heart rhythm if a person goes into cardiac arrest. SADS UK say the earlier the equipment is used, the better the chance is of survival.

James Boylan, head teacher at Heritage House School, said: “We are delighted to support the campaign of SADS UK to get defibrillators into all schools in the UK.

“We are particularly thankful for the assistance of the Chesham Rotary Club, Amersham and Chesham Lions Club and Chilterns Crematorium in helping make defibrillators available to us.”

Anne Jolly, Founder of SADS UK, said: “We are pleased that Heritage House School will benefit from having two defibrillators on the premises to restart the heart if there is a cardiac arrest on the premises.

“This year two teenage boys were saved by teachers at their school. This is why SADS UK is so passionate about putting this lifesaving equipment in schools.”
