The Chairman of Chiltern District Council received a fireman's lift out of a rescue boat in Chesham last week.

Firefighters from Bucks Fire and Rescue Service were on hand to offer their support to Cllr Mimi Harker as she aims to conquer her "morbid fear of water" in a series of swimming lessons.

Cllr Harker is raising money for Sport Relief this year by learning to swim at Chesham Leisure Centre on White Hill.

The Beaconsfield crew were also promoting the importance of learning to swim as a life skill following the tragedy of 13-year-old Kyrece Francis who died after swimming in the river Thames in July 2014.

Friends and family of the Great Marlow schoolboy rallied together to raise over £40,000 to pay for 15 life-saving units along the spot where he died, one of which was opened by Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock in September last year.
