The Chairman of Chiltern District Council will take to the pool this week to conquer her "morbid fear" of water for charity.
Cllr Mimi Harker is raising money for Sport Relief this year by learning to swim at Chesham Leisure Centre on White Hill.
Cllr Harker hopes to raise £1,000 from the event and says she is currently about half way towards her target.
The sponsored swim challenge, where Cllr Harker will attempt to swim a width of the pool, takes place at Chesham Leisure Centre on February 25 at 11am.
