Chesham and Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan became embroiled in the Queen’s alleged comments about ‘Brexit’ this week.
The Sun published a front page on Wednesday claiming the monarch was “backing Brexit”, quoting an anonymous source who is said to have witnessed discussions involving the Queen and former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg at Windsor Castle in 2011.
Those reported to have been in attendance at the meeting included Mrs Gillan and Justice Secretary Michael Gove - both in favour of an EU exit.
Mrs Gillan’s office said it “has no comment to make on Privy Council matters.”
Mr Clegg has since claimed that the story was “nonsense”.
Buckingham Palace has made an official complaint to the press watchdog over the story, with its editor insisting his paper’s reporting is accurate.
