As people across Bucks look to relax and indulge in good food this bank holiday weekend, the Bucks Free Press reveals the county’s least hygienic places to eat.

From a cosy night in with a takeaway, to pub grub, a posh meal out or a late night kebab most will have plans – but are there places which should be avoided?

We have compiled a list of the 47 restaurants, pubs, takeaways, cafes and sandwich shops which have been given a hygiene rating of 0 or 1 in the Wycombe, South Bucks and Chiltern districts, according to the Food Standards Agency.

Take a look through our list of badly rated restaurants above – you might even spot your favourite place to eat or somewhere you were tempted to try.

Food businesses which have a * next to their name have requested for a reinspection to take place.

Bucks Free Press:

Six months ago the Free Press looked at the food hygiene ratings in the three districts and earlier this week revealed that High Wycombe’s Asda only had a level two hygiene rating.

FHRS inspectors investigate how hygienically food is handled, the condition of the structure of the buildings and how the business manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe.

Wycombe District Council’s cabinet member for environment, cllr Jean Teesdale, said: "While we all worry about the takeaways, pubs, cafes and restaurants with food hygiene ratings of 0 or 1, they actually make up less than five per cent of all rated businesses in the Wycombe district.

“Of the 926 establishments that have a rating, a huge 811 have a rating of three or better, with 59 per cent of these achieving the maximum five rating.

“With numbers like this, finding a safe place to eat in the district shouldn’t be a problem.

"Food hygiene ratings help you to make an informed decision about where you might want to eat out.

“Our environmental health team work very hard to help drive up food safety standards in the district – and when businesses just don’t want to improve, we’ll take action against them to protect public safety.”
