Members of a south Bucks bridge club joined together to celebrate their president’s 90th birthday this week.

Ken Porter, one of Chesham Bridge Club’s oldest members, celebrated the milestone surrounded by his loved ones, including wife Joan, on Tuesday.

He also cut a birthday cake with his friends and family watching on.

The couple joined the club in 1979, with Ken taking on the role of secretary for 25 years until his retirement in 2009, when he was elected president.

The club was founded in 1971, making the couple two of its oldest members.

Club spokesman Margaret Dale said: “Ken and his wife Joan…have played a major part in the successful running of the club and were regular winners of the annual competitions.”

The club met at several locations before moving to its current site at Chesham Town Hall.

Meetings are held every Tuesday. For more details, visit http://www.bridgewebs.com/chesham.
