A MARLOW company is seeking entrants for a sponsored fun run to fund research into a rare disease that can be fatal to young boys.

David Hartley, a business consultant for SAS software company in Henley Road, has four sons who all suffer from X-linked lymphoproliferative syndrome (XLP), also known as Duncan's syndrome.

Very few people have been diagnosed with XLP, but 70 per cent of those who have die by the age of ten from cancer of the blood and an inability to fight infection, particularly glandular fever.

Three of David's sons have undergone a life-saving bone marrow procedure to combat the disease.

SAS is entering nine teams in XLP Research Trust Fund Triathlon in April at a donation of £1,000 per team, so the fun run aims to raise some of their sponsorship.

The route starting at 10am on Saturday, March 24, is a 3.5 mile run or walk, starting and finishing at SAS offices at Wittington House in Henley Road. It will be a scenic course suitable for children and adults and fully marshalled.

To enter, call Claire Donald on 01628 404410 or 07795 443244, or email claire.donald@suk.sas.com See www.xlpresearchtrust.org
