PARTS of south Bucks felt the major earthquake that struck the UK last night.

The epicentre of the tremor, which the British Geological Survey was said was 5.3 on the Richter scale, was near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire.

It is thought to be the biggest earthquake in the UK for nearly 25 years.

People were affected in Newcastle, Yorkshire, London, Manchester, the Midlands, Norfolk and also in Wales.

A resident in Burnham said he was woken up by the earthquake, which hit just before 1am.

Lorna Cassidy, a grandmother-of-three from Hampden Road, High Wycombe, said she was woken by the quake at around 1am. The 73-year-old artist said: "I was woken up in the middle of the night by my bed being almost shaken. "I was quite frightened."

There have also been reports that the tremor was felt in Great Missenden.
