CHRISTMAS puddings are being sold in the Octagon Centre by the mayor of High Wycombe to help raise money for charity.

Margaret Draper is holding a stall in the shopping centre to raise funds for this year's Mayor's Appeal.

Melanie Morgan, secretary and spokesman for the mayor, said: "The mayor will be holding a stall in the Octagon Shopping Centre, opposite Mothercare, on Tuesdays and Saturdays for the next two weeks."

Volunteers will man the stall on Saturday, Tuesday and Saturday, December 4.

Luxury Christmas puddings from the Ultimate Plum Pudding Company can be purchased at £5 for a 1lb pudding and £8.50 for a 2lb pudding.

Also on sale are the Mayor's Calendars featuring dogs which can be bought at £3 each or £4 for a copy personally signed by the mayor.

Proceeds from the sale are going towards the mayor's two chosen charities for this year Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in Saunderton and Home Start Wycombe.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert severely and profoundly deaf people to sounds they cannot hear such as the alarm clock, a baby crying, smoke alarm and many others.

Home Start Wycombe offers regular support, friendship and practical help to young families under stress in their own homes or through the family support group.
