Sugar is highly addictive and has no nutritional value to the body. All it will do for you is contribute to an enormous amount of today’s illnesses, including diabetes, and weight gain. Research has shown that sugar acts on the brain the same way as class A drugs do. Sugar raises serotonin levels, which makes us feels good, when that starts to wear off we want more.

• Are you stressed?

• Fat?

• Sleep badly?

• Have mood swings and or depression?

Sugar can have this effect on your body. Are you addicted?

Fructose or sucrose (table sugar) leads to high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes. High fructose corn syrup leads to diabetes, high blood pressure, liver disease, kidney disease, and vascular disease. Eating whole fruits does not cause the same problem as high fructose corn syrup and table sugar, because the fruits contain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which help metabolise the fructose.

Some of the other effects of sugar on the body are:

• Chronic fatigue.

• Weight gain.

• Anxiety and irritability.

• Tooth decay.

• PMS symptoms.

• High blood pressure.

Reduce sugar cravings by...

• Eating protein and vegetables.

• Taking B vitamins.

• Taking chromium and magnesium.

• Getting 8 hours sleep a night.

• Drinking liquorice tea.

• Taking a good quality fish oil.

• Using coconut oil.

• Eating half a banana before bed.

• Getting out in 1 hour of daylight a day to raise serotonin levels.
