A coach driver raised eyebrows earlier this month when he towed Father Christmas and his elves around Loudwater (pictured), Micklefield and Wycombe Marsh to help deliver presents to children.

Organisers asked Bob Kin, 61, from Loudwater to pull the sleigh with his bright yellow car as Santa’s reindeer were still preparing for Christmas Eve, and this week he spoke about his car being in the spotlight.

What car is it?

It is a Ford Focus Estate, bright yellow in colour. And it used to belong to Leicestershire County Council.

Why did you get it?

I bought it for my daughter at a car auction a few years ago. Basically, she had it for a while but she didn’t really like it because it was bright yellow and everyone was waving to her. She now has another one and I have taken the car on.

How does this differ from driving a coach?

It is much easier and just completely different. It is basically an estate car and it’s hopefully living a new life following some years with a council.

Is this the first time you have helped out with organising the Santa sleigh ride?

No, I did it last year too and there was such a big demand for it, so it was decided to be brought back.

How did you get involved in the project?

Through the ex-mayor [of High Wycombe in 2013/14] Trevor Snaith and I agreed to help work on it.

Because so many wanted to do it again we thought we should do it bigger so we went to more places.

We had never been done at Loudwater, so we wanted to go there. I am on the Loudwater Forum and basically we are trying to get something done for Loudwater and the community projects around there, as is the aim with the other places we visited.

You say the car gets a lot of attention because of the colour, does it gets even more people looking with Father Christmas on the back?

It certainly does, we get loads of children waving and they all look really excited when they see Father Christmas.

Other than towing Santa, what do you use it for?

I have used it for many projects, but one of the main ones is for the MVAS [Moveable Vehicle Activated Sign] project, which is to do with speeding and Community Speed Watch.

I help the project by putting the signs up and that is why I have got an orange light on the top, so other people can see me.

If you could go anywhere in the world with your car where would you go?

I think I would go to the Canary Islands.

And, if there was any passenger you could go with, who would you choose?

I suppose Julia Bradbury [former Countryfile TV presenter] would be good.
