A supermarket which has been vacant for about 18 months will not be converted into a Fitness First gym, despite rumours amongst residents and business owners.

Talk in Flackwell Heath had suggested the national fitness company were planning to convert the former Budgens store in Straight Bit into a gym.

However, this week company spokesman Rebecca Hall confirmed they had no plans at present to open a gym in the village.

The supermarket which served the community for 40 years was closed in July 2013.
