More than 1,500 young football fanatics descended on a South Buckinghamshire village for a fun-packed tournament held this weekend.
About 200 teams were invited to take part in this year’s version of the Flackwell Heath Festival of Football, with boys and girls of all ages pulling up their socks and taking part.
The annual event, organised by Flackwell Heath Minors, sees teams come from far and wide with other community groups helping make the day fun for spectators and players.
In total, around 1,600 youngsters were involved in the community event with their parents cheering them on from the sidelines.
The village tradition was boosted by the arrival of a bouncy castle, barbeque, bar and tombola.
Club chairman Declan Breen said: “The tournament is truly a community event.
“As well as the fantastic support we get from the families and friends of all of our players, Juniper Hill School provide some vital parking space, Flackwell Heath Cubs and Scouts help us set up and allow us to use their tents.
“And, we have numerous villagers and local businesses who supported us in the build-up to the weekend.”
