Amersham residents got into the Christmas spirit this weekend with the Amersham Christmas Showcase.

Despite the chilly weather, hundreds of people turned up to the Christmas Showcase in Sycamore Road on Saturday.

The road was closed to traffic from 9am to 5pm while visitors browsed shops, stalls and the designer’s fair inside St Michael’s Church Hall.

There were community and charity stalls from Samaritans, GE Healthcare and Buckinghamshire Search and Rescue amongst others.

There was also plenty to keep the youngsters happy, with a funfair, Santa’s Grotto and free balloons.

Throughout the day, there was live comedy, music and dancing on the stage, which was donated by local firm, Clarks of Amersham.

After braving the cold, shoppers could warm themselves up with mulled wine and hot food.

West End star, Margaret Preece, entertained the crowds with renditions of show tunes and festive hits on stage.

Brendan O’Sullivan, who owns Brendan O’Sullivan Hair and Beauty in Sycamore Road, took to the stage to sing a song on his own and a duet with Margaret.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the crowds gathered to watch Margaret turn on the Christmas lights.
