A police presence is still in force near a quiet area of woodland in Cookham Dean where a woman was assaulted on Saturday.

A cordon is in place at the corner of Quarry Wood Road and Grubwood Lane near where the assault took place on Saturday between 5pm and 6.30pm.

Forensic evidence markers have been placed on the ground in the small car park near the entrance to the quiet woodland spot.

Police tape remains across the entrance to the footpath into the woods, which separate Marlow from Cookham Dean.

Yesterday officers remained on the scene to divert people around the area.

Police are still appealing for information on the crime and are looking to trace a white man, wearing a grey T-shirt and black jogging bottoms.

Yet police have refused to comment further on the specific nature of the assault or reveal details of the victim.

All they can confirm is that the female victim was wearing a dark jacket and pink tracksuit trousers with wellington boots.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who saw the pair, either together or alone, to get in touch, and say they may have also been travelling in a small silver vehicle in that area at that time.

Senior Investigating officer, Det Chief Insp Kevin Brown, said yesterday: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Startins Lane or Quarry Wood Road in Cookham Dean between about 5pm and 6.30pm on Saturday, to try and remember if they saw a female or a man either together or alone in either location.

“Officers are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this incident and so I urge anyone with information to call us on 101.”
