Flipping pan-tastic runners battled to be named winners of this year’s Pancake Race in Wycombe town centre.

Eight teams signed up to Shopmobility’s annual event, which took place in the Eden Centre outside Marks and Spencer on Tuesday.

After four heats and the semi finals, Noodle Nation went head-to-head with Red Kite’s team one.

Noodle Nation won and they were no strangers to victory, having already been crowned Pancake Race champions in 2011.

The race is held to raise awareness of Shopmobility, which is a charity that offers the free daily loan of electric scooters, as well as manual and powered wheelchairs to people visiting the town centre.

Claire McMackin, manager of Shopmobility, said the event used to be much bigger when it was held in the High Street. However, the race had to be suspended for a couple of years while the charity moved into its new premises in the Eden Centre.

She added: “We rely on donations and fundrasing to keep the service free for our customers who need it.

“Since we moved offices we have been very busy. We’re getting three times as many people come to us, which shows that the need is there.

“Shopmobility is also a social outlet. We are trying to make it a good day out for people.”
