Villagers were embroiled in a tug-of-war at the weekend as they were pulled from one event to another during an annual summer fete.

The Wooburn Fete attracted hundreds of people on Saturday as organisers entertained people of all ages with a variety of games and performances.

Wooburn Residents Association set about to make this year’s event bigger than before and was happy to see so many people join in the “party atmosphere” despite the potential for rain.

As well as the tug-of-war event, there was also a dance troupe and a number of singers taking to the stage, and a raffle.

Bucks Free Press:

Fete committee spokesman, Margaret Amos, said: “The Meadows School sung brilliantly, St Paul’s School danced enthusiastically with the audience around the arena clapping, giving the Fete quite a party feel.

“Takeda Voices [a local business choir] was enjoyed by all and they had audience participation with the last number being The Rhythm of Life.

“The finale was Dave the Disco showering the children with snow, having worn them out with musical games – which was somewhat strange as the whole week the main topic of conversation in Wooburn was the weather as thunder and rain were forecast.

“There were a couple of slight showers which were warm and added to the British feel. And there was plenty of sun.”
