Marlow’s gold medal winning hockey star, Alex Danson, joined hundreds of runners in the annual Frieth Hilly at the weekend.

Torrential rain refused to dampen the spirits of the hundreds of runners who took part in the challenging countryside race on Sunday (October 16).

Rio 2016 star, Alex, crossed the line with a time of 50 minutes and 53 seconds after taking on the 10k race.

Wycombe Phoenix runner, Pippa Woolven, came first overall in the gruelling race with a time of 36 minutes and 40 seconds.

Just one day before the Frieth Hilly, Pippa came first in the Chiltern League women's event in Oxford.

She was unable to trial for the Rio Olympics this summer in the 3,000 metre steeplechase due to glandular fever but is now fully recovered and back on form.

The first male runner across the finish line was Ross Langley, a member of Tring Running Club, with a time of 37 minutes and 39 seconds.

Retired rower, Zac Purchase, who is preparing to launch a new gym in Marlow, was also at the race with his family as one of the sponsors of the event.

Organisers say they are "absolutely delighted by the success of this year’s race" but the total raised has not yet been confirmed.

A registered charity, all funds raised from the Frieth Hilly will go to Frieth CE Primary School for their IT suite.
