Hundreds of people flocked to a popular carnival in Marlow at the weekend, which featured two celebrity guests.

The Marlow Carnival, which has been a part of the community for around 30 years, returned to Higginson Park on Saturday, with television favourites Sandra Martin, from Channel 4’s Gogglebox and CBeebies’ Nisha Anil, who are set to star in Maidenhead pantomime Aladdin this year.

Organised by the Marlow Community Association, the carnival saw around 300 people, including town mayor Jocelyn Towns, enjoying a range of activities, including the newly reinstated children’s parade in the High Street which took place for the first time after around a decade.

Lindsay Robinson, part of the Marlow Carnival organising committee, said the day went “fantastically well”.

She said: “It was a really lovely day. The weather was good which was a massive bonus for us.

“Hundreds of people turned up. The parade went really well – so many children came and took part. It was really, really successful.

“Everything at the park went really well too – the bands were excellent and a lot of people stayed until the end.

“The celebrity guests were absolutely brilliant. Nisha did a couple of storytellings with the children which went well, and Sandra was absolutely hilarious.

“They were both such good sports.”

Visitors to the carnival were treated to classic cars, a mini funfair and a BBQ, as well as live music in the park.
