A nature and art trail to inspire youngsters to enjoy the great outdoors officially launched in High Wycombe at the weekend.
The Gomms Wood trail has been created by a collaboration of community groups including Chiltern Rangers, Marsh and Micklefield Big Local’s BOOMMFUTURES youth group, High Wycombe schools, Wycombe Arts Centre and Hills Café.
It was officially launched at the Hills Café in Micklefield, with families able to complete crayon rubbings and pick up a map and explore the trail, with two different art walks running.
The art trail starts at Hills Cafe at 162 Micklefield Road and involves making crayon rubbings of textured art trails whilst spotting over 30 sculptures made by local young people out of materials found in the woods.
Families also enjoyed the annual fiery scrub bash at the cinema field next to Ash Hill School, which gave youngsters a chance to cut the scrub to improve the habitat for wildlife, toast marshmallows and find out more about community and conservation projects.
