Community groups are being urged to apply for a grant from South Bucks district council.

Voluntary and community groups can apply for funding from the council's subscriptions and donations fund, which aims to help them with running costs.

Applicants do not have to live within the district, but their services must benefit the residents of South Bucks district.

Last year organisations, charities and groups were awarded grants totalling over £20,000 for projects and services geared towards helping the local community, including Wycombe Women's Aid, Bucks Vision, The Chilterns MS Centre, Carers Bucks and Contact the Elderly.

South Bucks district councillor Trevor Egleton, portfolio holder for healthy communities said: “This is an ideal opportunity for not-for-profit organisations to benefit from a community grant and I urge local groups to apply.

"We want the funding to go to groups where money is an issue and to those which have a really positive effect on communities across our district.

"I would like to remind those thinking of applying that this grant is to help towards running costs and will not be awarded for the purchase of equipment or for one-off events."

The closing date for applications is 5pm on January 15 next year.
