Changes are being made to some train services as Chiltern Railways tries to accommodate football fans heading to and from the England match at Wembley Stadium this evening.

Chiltern Railways has announced a number of changes to their usual timetable to make way for extra passengers heading to the stadium to watch England take on the Netherlands at 8pm.

The 1624 London Marylebone to Birmingham Snow Hill will make extra stops at Sudbury and Harrow Road and Northolt Park, while the 1634 London Marylebone to High Wycombe will have one extra coach and will leave earlier at 1630, making stops at South Ruislip and West Ruislip.

The 1630 London Marylebone to West Ruislip will not run, while the 1818 London Marylebone to Oxford Parkway will stop at Princes Risborough at 1851.

A number of peak trains from Marylebone will also have less carriages than usual including:

  • The 1656 London Marylebone to Gerrards Cross will be formed of the same number of carriages but with a different type of train which has fewer seats in the carriage.
  • The 1747 London Marylebone to Birmingham Snow Hill will be formed of six carriages instead of eight.
  • The 1753 London Marylebone to Aylesbury will be formed of three carriages instead of four.
  • The 1812 London Marylebone to Aylesbury will be formed of four carriages instead of five.
  • The 1821 London Marylebone to Bicester North will be formed of five carriages instead of seven.
  • The 1832 London Marylebone to Aylesbury Vale Parkway will be formed of two carriages instead of three.

Chiltern Railways said they have chosen to make changes to their service to make the “most efficient use of our rolling stock” and provide shuttles to Wembley Stadium, allowing them to “minimise impact” on regular commuters, according to their website.
