Dozens attended a Hazlemere Christmas market at the weekend in aid of two animal welfare charities.

South Bucks RSPCA and Cats Protection hosted the event at Hazlemere Community Centre, in Rose Avenue, on Saturday between 11am and 2pm.

Nearly £600 was raised at the event, which attracted more than 100 people.

There was a host of festive presents available, with lots of craft and bric-a-brac stalls, as well as refreshments and homemade cakes. Entry was free.

Louise Wheeler, South Bucks RSPCA spokesman, said: “We are a small group of local volunteers and last year we helped 400 injured, abandoned and cruelly treated animals and all our work is enabled by the support and donations of the local people and local companies who kindly support us.

“We couldn’t do what we do without that as we are completely self funded.”

Events such as Saturday’s are integral to the work of both charities.

The RSPCA and Cats Protection are both looking for volunteers.
