The Chiltern Liberal Democrats have apologised to residents in the Holmer Green, Penn and Coleshill ward for not fielding a candidate in the district elections.

In a statement posted on their website, Lib Dem CDC leader Peter Jones told how the party could not find anyone to stand in the election this year.

He wrote: "It is always the intention of the Liberal Democrats to field a candidate in every local council election.

"Sometimes that is not possible - usually because we cannot find a local candidate willing to stand.

"So, here's an apology to the hundreds of people who would have liked to vote for a Liberal Democrat councillor, but can't."

Councillor Jones also appealed to residents to consider standing for the party in the next election.

Mark Titterington and Mike Smith from the Conservatives and Labour candidate Ruth Werbiski are standing in Thursday's election, which will see two councillors elected to represent the ward.
