A High Wycombe church is expanding into Hazlemere after their congregation numbers doubled in five years and is celebrating the launch on Easter Sunday.

The King’s Church High Wycombe, based at the King’s Centre in Desborough Road, is launching a second site at Sir William Ramsay School after their congregation numbers doubled to more than 700 since 2009.

In preparation for Easter Sunday’s (March 27) launch, King’s Church members have helped provide the school with funding to upgrade the flooring, carpet, audio-visual and acoustic equipment.

Senior Pastor Neil Bartlett said the church has been looking to expand for a number of years and is expecting the new site, which will be led by full-time Pastor John Harbour, to be popular with Hazlemere residents.

He said: “We’d been looking for a second site for a couple of years, and the opportunity at Hazlemere came out of the blue.

“As more than 100 church members travel in from the Hazlemere area, this was an opportunity not to miss.”

The move has also been welcomed by Mark Meardon, Vicar of Holy Trinity, Hazlemere.

He said: “As the Anglican Church in Hazlemere, we have a deep desire to serve our local community.

“Over the years we've had a great relationship with King’s Church and are looking forward to working together to see this involvement in the community continuing to flourish.”

The launch on Sunday will start at 10am with refreshments. Visit www.kchw.co.uk to find out more information.
