A schoolboy went to buy eggs from a shop in Hazlemere only to discover a “heart-warming” note and £10 from a kind stranger when he unpacked them at home.
Finley Porter, 14, went to the Co-op in Rose Avenue on Monday, April 18 to buy a dozen eggs, but was surprised to discover the money and anonymous note folded up inside when he returned to his home in Tylers Green.
The handwritten note read: “Dear stranger, good luck in everything that you do. Just believe with your heart and mind that anything is possible. Keep strong and be true :) A fellow human being.”
The generous donation was welcomed by the Royal Grammar School pupil, who has been tirelessly raising money for a trip to Norway with his school and has already written and hosted a pub quiz at The Mayflower Pub in Hazlemere, a stall at Hazlemere Scout’s indoor sale, and offered leaf clearing and gardening in Hazlemere and Tylers Green.
Finley said: “I’ve heard about random acts of kindness, but I’ve never met anyone who has experienced one.
"So I want to say a big thank you to this very kind person, and let them know that I will be putting their donation towards my World Challenge trip to Norway this July.
"I need to raise £1,600, and thanks to this mystery person I have got one step closer to my goal.”
Kate Porter, Finley’s mum, said the note was “heart-warming.”
She said: “It was absolutely lovely. It was a really nice thing to do and it has gone to someone who, hopefully, the stranger had intended it to go to.”
