A school in Hazlemere is celebrating a new chapter of reading after opening a new library.

Pupils at Manor Farm Infant School pupils have been celebrating their love of books in their “inspiring” new woodland-themed library.

Families visited the school to marvel at the huge selection of new books, the tree-shaped bookshelves and toadstool seats in the colourful room, which was made possible through donations from parents.

The celebrations continued with a Beatrix Potter themed World Book Day and a day full of fun and creativity when they had a visit from author Adam Guillain.

In April this year, the school was praised in their Ofsted inspection for “very good” teaching of reading.

The report says: “Pupils develop a love of reading from an early age. They achieve very well and by the time they leave the school virtually all pupils reach the expected level and about half reach the higher levels.”

Paula Coppins, head teacher at the school on Rose Avenue, said: “It has been a joy to see the children’s love of reading enhanced even further by this great new facility and associated activities. A big thank you to all who have made it possible.”
