Budding bakers at a school in Holmer Green got the seal of approval from a celebrity chef last week.
Phil Vickery – best known for his appearances on This Morning and Ready, Steady, Cook – dropped into Holmer Green First School to judge the best decorated cakes competition at their summer fayre on Saturday (June 25).
The chef, who lives with wife Fern Britton in nearby Great Kingshill, chose Eleanor Cowling’s elaborate princess cake as the winner of the children’s category.
Carrie Johnson wowed the judges with her colourful nature-inspired cake and took first place in the adult category.
A patriotic creation - complete with crown, red roses and corgis in celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday - was baked by Caroline Ljubisic and won third place in the adult’s section.
