A family-friendly festival of culture and music returns to the centre of High Wycombe next week featuring the best the town has to offer.

Frogfest celebrates its third year when it takes over the public square in Frogmoor on Sunday, May 24.

The event – organised by town centre improvement group HWBIDCo – promises to be the biggest one yet, with larger line-up of musical talent, more children’s entertainment and more food stalls than in previous years.

HWBIDCo, the not-for-profit company, paid-for, and run by, local businesses in High Wycombe has teamed up with leading lights in the Wycombe music scene to secure a mix of established and un-signed artists across two stages.

HWBIDco’s director of events, Matt Billsborough said: “Every successful town can boast a calendar of events that engages local people and visitors in activities other than the core retail, service or hospitality offer.

“High Wycombe is catching onto this agenda gradually, thanks to the pioneering work of the BID introducing such events as Frogfest and BIG Screen in recent years.

“This in turn, has spawned wider community conversations about building a critical mass of support for a Wycombe Fringe and an annual film festival.

“We are proud to have been part of the catalyst for this new momentum and remind visitors that most of this is made possible by the businesses in the town centre who fund HWBIDCo and who will welcome your patronage in the future.”

This year, the acoustic music stage is presented by town centre pub the Belle Vue.

Alan Hedgecock , landlord of the Belle Vue and content manager and promoter for the music stage, said: “High Wycombe has always had a thriving music scene within the local public houses and the Town Hall.

“Events such as Frogfest and free music venues help the artists and musicians progress as well as give our townsfolk and communities a source of affordable entertainment.

“Together these elements help boost local economy and create the foundation to make Wycombe a great place to both visit and live in."

There will be a variety of entertainment for the younger audience including circus skills, bandana making, face painting, puppet workshops, balloon modelling and a special twist on Punch and Judy.

The event runs from 11am through to 9.30pm in Frogmoor.
